Every now and then, I like to take a little detour from the usual.
The Typographic Bookmark Collection is a slight departure from my nature-inspired artwork, but one that brings me back to another part of my creative background: graphic design. Rather than birds, plants, landscapes, or quiet moments in nature, this collection celebrates something a little closer to home for any fellow bibliophiles - the simple joy of getting lost in a good book.
Each bookmark pairs playful typography with colorful pops of color and a little bit of personality. One is a familiar sentiment every reader knows all too well: “Just one more chapter.” Another proudly declares “Bibliophile,” for those who have never needed much convincing to pick up another book. And the third celebrates the feeling that comes with opening the cover of a new story: “Every new book is a new adventure.”
There is something wonderfully simple about these little phrases. They capture those familiar feelings that come with being a reader, the excitement of starting a new story, the reluctance to put a good book down, and the endless possibility waiting between the pages.
These bookmarks were born from the simple idea of creating bookmarks that I would genuinely be happy to tuck between the pages of a book.
Of course, a bookmark still has to do its job. Each one is crafted with care and attention to detail, with rounded corners to help prevent accidentally catching or damaging the corners of your book. A tassel makes it easy to find your place again, while the hole has been reinforced with a clear reinforcement label to help keep the tassel securely in place without distracting from the artwork.
A little art between the pages. A little reminder to slow down. And a quiet invitation to get lost in the story.
